Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge - Tanzania

Situated on the rim of an ancient collapsed volcano, this lodge offers guests uninterrupted views of the Ngorongoro crater, a true remaining natural wonder. The most unique eco system on earth is home to over 20 000 large grazing animals, boasting the largest concentration of predators found on the planet.

Ngorongoro crater is the largest of 9 volcanoes in this conservation area, Oldonyo Lengai being the only one still active. The conservation area is 8300 km squared with the crater itself having an average diameter of 23 km. The crater covers an area of 250 km squared and has an average depth of 600m. There are many activities available from the surrounding area which enhances knowledge historically, geographically and culturally.

Accommodation:

The Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge offers 71 standard rooms and 4 suites, all of which look onto the Crater.

Children's Policy:

Children under the age of 8 years are not permitted on game drive activities

Important reminders:

Please bear in mind that the lodge is in an unfenced conservation area and a variety of wildlife may be found in or around the lodge at any time. The lodge electricity is supplied by generator; there is electricity from 05h00 - 12h00 and from 17h00 - 24h00. As the lodge is situated 3500 ft above sea level the weather does tend to be a lot cooler than the lower lying surrounding areas. Ngorongoro gates close at 18h00.

Bars and restaurants:

Empakai Bar: There is one bar open daily in the main lounge area. It has a warm and friendly atmosphere, very inviting on those chilly evenings at Ngorongoro Crater.

Rhino Restaurant: The restaurant provides three meals daily, although varied options are available dependent on occupancy, eg: bush dinner etc.

Menus are varied between buffet and a la carte depending on occupancy

Meal times :

Breakfast: 06h30 - 9h00 • Lunch: 12h30 - 14h00 • Dinner: 19h30 - 21h00.

TV Lounge:

TV with selected DSTV is at guests disposal while electricity is available. Videos are provided on selected evenings for entertainment.
